Project Details

This project involved the extension of a previously completed section of New Jersey Rt. 33 in Freehold, New Jersey. The project involved the construction of embankments and roadways for approximately 1½ miles and the construction of two major overpass bridges.

The project additionally involved a substantial amount of drainage construction and several difficult box culverts requiring the construction and dewatering of cofferdams. The bridge construction involved conventional abutments and piers with spread footings having multiple span concrete decks on structural steel beams. This project was constructed on time and in budget. On this project, Harms Construction dealt with much of the public relations with adjacent property owners who were being impacted by the new highway construction. The project did receive industry awards for construction.
