Project Details

This contract was to replace the Rt. 130 Bridge over the Rancocas Creek, and construct a new interchange between Rt. 130 and the relocated Bridgeboro Street. This new interchange required a new structure to carry Rt. 130 over Bridgeboro Street.

The construction of these two new structures required several roadway work activities such as drainage, grading, roadway pavement, landscaping and lighting. The interchange of Bridgeboro St. and Rt. 130 also included several new entrance and exit ramps. Some of these ramps required construction of embankment fill and retaining walls in environmentally sensitive areas next to the Rancocas Creek.

The structure over the Rancocas Creek replaced an existing structure which was demolished under this contract, along with several buildings for the new roadway alignment. Construction of the new structure required massive coordination to keep the waterway open at all times. The footings for this structure were constructed on steel H-Piles, and required cofferdams and tremie seals while they were under construction. This bridge also required a timber and steel sheeting fender system, and a steel sheet pile bulkhead. The project was completed on time and within budget.
