Project Details

This project involved road construction, ramps, earthwork and utility relocation work for the approach to a new Rt. 1 bridge over Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. Also included in the construction of this contract was the demolition and removal of the existing Rt. 1 bridge over Amtrak.

This project required an extensive amount of staging and coordination to accommodate both utility relocations and the maintenance of traffic on the busy Rt. 1 corridor. The project also involved a substantial amount of earthwork in constructing the approaches and ramps to the new bridge. Demolition of the existing bridge over Amtrak’s northeast corridor required close coordination with both Amtrak and Conrail.

Task specific work plans were required for the demolition over Amtrak’s main line and the entire demolition operation was performed during nights and weekends. Much of this work was accomplished during track outage, power outage, and fouling shots on Conrail’s and Amtrak’s lines. The project was completed on time and within budget.
