This contract involved all of the required work to construct the Gropp’s Lake Dam in Hamilton Township. The dam is made up of a concrete spillway section, keyed into the stream banks by means of nonoverflow embankments.
Some of the preliminary work items included site clearing, protection of utilities, and construction of temporary stream crossings.
The major construction activities consisted of soil erosion control, excavation & removal of sediment from Gropp’s Lake, disposal and hauling of materials, and the construction of the dam.
The construction of the dam consisted of several major sections:
- Upstream Apron
- Energy Dissipater
- Outlet Works
- Storm Outlet Structure
- Steel Sheet Pilling Cutoff
- Fish Ladder
- Earth Embankment
Construction of the access roads, traffic control, and landscaping were also required work activities to complete this project. The project was completed on time and within budget.
